Digital subtraction Angiography or DSA is a type of flouroscopy technique used in interventional radiology to clearly visualize blood vessels in a bony or dense soft tissue environment. It is similar to a cardiac angiography, just used on blood vessels of the nervous system. Images are produced using contrast medium by subtracting a ‘pre-contrast image’ or the mask from later images, once the contrast medium has been introduced into a structure.
Magnetic resonance imaging or MRI is an imaging test which uses the magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. MRI, in many cases gives different information about structures in the body than cannot be seen with an X-ray, ultrasound, or computed tomography (CT) scan.

The series of tests may take about 3-4 days to finish. Once all the reports are collated, the doctor devises a treatment plan as per his/her best judgement.
